A couple friends of mine requested that I spread the word about a project they've started called "Blood for CJ". A friend of theirs who passed away a couple years ago had a tradition of donating blood on her birthday... sort of a way of saying thanks for another year of life. In her memory, they're now trying to carry on her tradition by asking people to donate blood on or around her birthday (July 6). Despite my longstanding bias against United Blood Services, I still think this is a great idea... and they have links on their site to a couple organizations that don't appear to have the same ignorant policy as UBS. If you're willing to help out, wander over to their site and commit to donating. And tell 'em I sent you.
